Quarantine has meant lots of people have committed heavily to the home bar! Here is some inspiration for those wanting to join in the fun...
Chandeliers can be expensive but a great cost saving way to create impact with your lighting is to cluster some more reasonable pendants. Adding hanging plants is beautiful but optional!
It can add a large amount of cost to a build to hide a beam. Instead of this, I often encourage my clients to make the most of their beams! One way is to make it look purposeful with lighting...
SPACE SAVING TIP: I wanted to make the best use of this under stairs space for my lovely clients. They wanted a downstairs loo but as those of us with London homes know, this space is not often vast! By creating double doors to the side, rather than the entrance on the narrow end, you don’t have to squeeze past the sink to use the loo - and it all just feels a bit more spacious
I often get clients who want to make the most of an existing space, such as a lean-to. My best advice is if you can make it warm, don’t waste it - whether it’s for extra dining, soft seating, maybe being surrounded by plants, storage, home office, etc. There is always a use to best suit your needs - don’t fall into the common trap of making it a dumping ground! Though if the thought of decluttering now fills you with dread, have it in mind for a future project, only take on what you’re ready to!
